After looking into it, it seems like I didn’t teach you all house strength in the second workshop! I gave a lecture on it one day at the temple and that seems to have confused me into thinking I had taught it to you all. So here’s the lecture on house strength.
Thank you Veos!
How do Rahu/Ketu influence house strength? For example: in a chart that has Rahu and Sun in one house and Jupiter and Saturn in another, would both houses be considered to be equal in planet number? And if Rahu or Ketu was alone in a house, would it be considered more or less significant (or equal?) to a house with one planet in it? Or would Rahu/Ketu be weaker than houses with exalted planets but stronger than debilitated? etc. It seems like they shouldn’t be ignored, but I have no idea how to incorporate them.
I’ve been trying to research Rahu/Ketu strength information but haven’t been able to find much from reliable sources…
I found the following in a book from Bepin Behari:
“Rahu has auspicious results in Taurus, Cancer and Aries”
“If the nodes are placed in the 3rd, 6th, or 11th houses, their beneficence is pronounced.”
But that’s still quite vague, and auspiciousness isn’t the same as strength.Courtney, you would just count them as a planet for the first few steps of strength. After that, sthana bala can’t really be considered so you should consider the natural strength of the other 7 planets to be stronger than the nodes.
Very interesting lecture, I thought that by having 4 planets in one house that was my strongest house but the house that the AK is in is the strongest house regardless of the number of planets in a single house? Is there a number of planets ina single house that would override that?
Jesse, the principal at work is that the Atmakaraka is ultimately the Lord of the natural chart. Basically he is the boss and all the other planets are employees. Doesn’t matter how many employees there are, the boss makes the decisions and holds the power.
Very interesting! Courtney and I were talking about how dramatically that changes some charts we’ve looked at.
I got thinking, in case of a parivartan yoga what would happen? For example, to start the Narayana Dasha if there was a parivartan yoga between the 1st and 7th which house would be stronger if the atmakaraka is in the 7th but got switched to the 1st?
Know it was mentioned back in level 1 that the parivartan is only taken into account while reading the house only, so I don’t know if it is neglected.
The parivartan yoga is still a little confusing to me, don’t know how to deal with it.
