Throughout the class I will be posting example charts for us all to practice with. I will give the first practice chart now so that everyone can warm up a little and review their basics before we get started with the class. All of these example charts will be real charts taken from different famous saints, celebrities, political figures, etc, but I won’t reveal whose chart it is at first. Here is the first chart!
    Example Chart

A few questions to get you all started:
    1) What can you tell me about his physical appearance?
    2) What can you tell about his mental disposition from his moon?
    3) What kind of effect do you think his AK Sun had on his ascendant?
Please feel free to make any other observations about the chart, especially pertaining to his personality and career.

    1) This will be a bit out there for me to try, I would imagine with the sagittarius ascendant with jupiter in libra and the sun in the ascendant this person would be tan and somewhat thin/tall. I’m not very good with determining body types though, yet.

2)The moon is conjunct with saturn in virgo in the 10th while mercury and venus are in the 2th house in Capricorn forming a parvitan yoga with mercury and saturn. I think this persons mind is likely very focused on their career and life path and work very hard on it. I would think it has to do with expression of some form due to virgo/saturn/10th house/mercury and venus aspects. Perhaps a form of art or performance art or public speaking connected to it. I’m also curious if the person is focused on a traditional art form or speaking on a traditional/cultural subject because of saturn, though I could imagine that aspect would potentially just lead to a mind focused on hard work as well. In retrospect the moon ruling the 8th house could also have some negative impacts on the mind in terms of depression at some points. Also perhaps some inclinations towards being secretive and the mysterious side of life.

    3) Since their sun is I may be wrong but maha yogada? and lord of the ninth house in the first with AL in the 9th I would assume this person would be quite spiritual as well with a strong connection to their purpose. I would imagine this gave them great energy to accomplish their goals as well as a sense of what their purpose is from a young age, perhaps guided by a father figure in their life.

I hope something I said was right! 🙂

I took a spiritual approach about the person because of his AK Sun (9th house lord, AL lord), the Lagna nakshatra being Purva Ashaddha, and the Mars/Jupiter opposition for it leads me to believe the person was educated in a fiery spiritual path.

    1. Strong, dark skin because of the Sun being in the Lagna, dark eyes from the aspecting of Moon (and Saturn?) to the 1st house.

    2. Although the moon seems to be the lord of the 8th, being in conjunction with saturn (naturally malefic) and Ketu having a possible aspect upon it, I could think either the person was deeply afflicted with mental problems suffering from depression or had a mental detachment from the world after a struggle with the mind leading to a liberation of it. I go for the latter for there is also a Parivatan happening between Mercury and Saturn and also the moon is in its own nakshatra Hasta, inclining to metaphysics but again could have a struggle with mind/vices in the beginning.

    3. The AK Sun upon his ascendant makes him a powerful, royal, spiritual presence around him. I say this because the sun is the 9th house lord and has a deep phycological impact and drive upon him for it is also the lord of his Arudna Lagna, being aspected by the sun and mars. Not only that but the Sun is very happy in Sagittarius (great friends).

    other
-likes more hands on work and a constant routine. Maybe family business.
    -Spiritually inclined father.
    -harsh militant education?
-wealth from family helped in his career (parivatan)?
-Rahu in 12th leading to materialistic detachment?
-older siblings (brother/sister)? because of saturn (3rd house lord indicating siblings, moon, sister) or/and jupiter, a brother (mars karaka of siblings)?

Don’t know if I “over-spiritualized” the person, I may have been a little bias based on me trying to look for a spiritual person.

Hope I’m not that wrong haha.

1)The Sun in the ascendant in Sagittarius. The person will be very strong and tall. The appearance will energetic, strong vitality, and they give out energy.

2)Moon is in the 10th house. The person can feel empty and unfulfilled if there needs are not met.Sensitive to the needs of a big audience. They crave recognition in public, status, and some form of success.

3)The Sun has a powerful impact on his ascendant. He has strong will-power,positive,competitive,and develops natural will power. He is determined and relies on himself. He has a presence and strong image. He needs to be a leader and innovator.

The Rahu placement puts alot of mental stress the individual has to go through. However,he will be lucky in family life. They might be a king with there saturn and moon conjunction.

Very good! All three of you are correct at least in a general manner, with even some specific details. David’s post was very accurate and was making me laugh at the wonders of astrology; that David should so clearly and accurately describe a person when he has no idea who they are. I will wait for a few more posts before I let you all know who it is! Jesse and Anupom both made accurate assessments of the native’s general character and career, Jesse being clever to catch that public speaking or presentation could be involved (quite accurately). Anupom’s assertions about the effects of the Sun in the ascendant were also quite accurate.

    1) Skinny with dark features and light skin. Maybe the sun so close to the ascendant will darken the skin (as dark skin would be a solar trait).

    2) His thoughts would be on his work, probably with the steady perseverance or depression of Saturn. The moon’s nakshatra indicates that he would be inclined to deceit in relations, and this may well effect how he does business. There is also a possible interest in metaphysics.

    3) Ahh, perhaps combustion, though that may only effect planets.

Jupiter in the 11th, with it’s lord Venus in the 2nd all seem to suggest wealth.
I’d imagine if Jupiter was strong and Venus isn’t afflicted, then this would be the case.

Thank you Veos for signing me up! Im grateful.
    Hello Jesse! Hello everyone!
Let me try and see if I can make a contribution.
First of all I think the individual may have been born on the 11th of January,1863 around 7:20. Haha
Sun, the Lord of the 9th house is being trine by Mars a friend. Sagittarius is a spiritual house and therefore such a trine from Mars, the Lord of a Kona upon the Sun only strenghtens this lagna spirituality. The lagna Lord Jupiter is in Libra an enemy’s house and get squared by Libra’s Lord. Moreover Jupiter is in papakartari yoga, tossed between Rahu and Saturn, hence quite weakened. Nevertheless, the aspects from Mars upon the Sun makes the individual strong, healthy and quite religious from young age.
Moon, being the Lord of the 8th house is in Virgo an enemy’s sign and conjuct Saturn a malefic planet. It is aspected by the Lord of the 6th and hence the moon is quite weakened. The individual would be overly emotional (mother) and will strugggle with the mind. Venus, the Lord of the 6th house is being squared by an unhappy Jupiter and Mars. Since Mars gets 100% in square, it could mean that the determination, courage and strenght from Mars would propel the individual in spite of his struggles in social life or marriage. Saturn in 10th and getting squared by Sun could mean the individual’s profession could be very physical in nature and the individual would be devoted to his work.
    Hope I got something right???

    Here are my interpretations:

    1) Tall, dark, and attractive due to placement of Lagna and Sun both in Sagittarius and the lord of his Lagna being in Libra. (These placements likely make his personality very fiery and passionate, but somewhat detached because of Saturn’s and Moon’s aspect). Could be strong due to Saturn’s planetary square aspect, although may also suffer health problems related to this.

    2) He has a strong, hard working mind, but pessimistic at times due Moon being lord of the 8th and being placed in an unfriendly sign. Mercury and Saturn have a Parivartan Yoga making Mercury exalted in the 10th house making him very intelligent in his life’s work, but his intelligence may interfere with his mind/emotions because Mercury and Moon are great enemies in his chart.

    3) His AK Sun being strong in his ascendant could lead to a lot of confidence, pride, fame and good health. He could be a good public speaker and have great charisma. And because his AK is lord of his 9th, I would think he used these skills for spiritual purposes and became a great leader for a spiritual movement.

    Other Observations:
    – He has strong Trines with lord of the 5th in mulatrikona in the 5th and lord of the 9th in the 1st, which leads to great potential for spiritual life. With Jupiter and Sun being great friends and both being connected with the trines could lead to a very famous spiritual or political figure. I’m inclined to think more spiritual due to placement of the 6/12 Rahu/Ketu. Ketu in the 6th could lead to a lot of karmic/mental obstacles, and create a lot of situations where he would serve others. And Rahu in the 12th leads to material detachment as well as an exaggerated desire for final liberation. His Saturn also has 100% aspect on his 12th. Having two malefics in a naturally malefic house would end up causing great success in regards to enlightenment.

    – Moon being lord of the 8th in the 10th could also imply he works with the dead or works with magic. Lord of the 10th exalted in the 10th shows great success in whatever field he pursued.

    – Mars being strongly placed in the 5th may lead to high level of education. He may also be skilled in military tactics or maybe in political warfare. Or maybe because it’s lord of the 5th and 12th mulatrikona in the 5th, he is highly educated in ways to reach enlightenment.

    – Lord of the 5th in the 5th being a malefic would mean he has no children.
